We invite researchers at Seattle Children’s Research Hospital and University of Washington to join us on our mission to help our neighbors flourish and have a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
Together, we can bring institutional knowledge to the community, and ensure its voices are elevated when working to solve health problems.

Access to Funding
Receive updates on relevant funding opportunities and guidance on application process
Project Support
Receive assistance with planning and logistics for off-campus research activities, including community meetings, training sessions, and workshops
Collaboration and Peer Engagement
Opportunities for affiliate members to collaborate with HLI and other affiliate researchers on co-authored publications and presentations
Deeper Ties to Community
Engage with HLI’s network of community-based partners to build local relationships and develop solutions with the people who will be benefiting from them
Application Process
Affiliate Researcher Membership is open to early career and experienced researchers based at either the University of Washington or Seattle Children’s with a demonstrated interest in health equity and maternal, child, and adolescent health. Research projects must be focused on communities in Washington, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, or Alaska.
Submit a current CV and statement of interest outlining research goals and how they align with the HLI’s mission.

Applications are reviewed as they are received. Successful applicants will receive an initial two-year affiliation, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement and ongoing collaboration.
